About the Role
We are looking for motivated candidates to join the SAFE project team, under the direction of the principal investigator. As part of this role, you will support research activities, including data collection from families of autistic children, alongside providing research and administrative assistance to colleagues managing the project.
This is a fully remote position; however, data collection with families will occur in the community or at NHS Trust venues. Therefore, applicants must be based near NHS Trusts in the following regions: Manchester, Derby, Exeter, Leicester, or London (Southwark, Hackney, or Central).
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct basic research activities such as preparing, setting up, and recording outcomes of interventions for families of autistic children.
- Collect data through various techniques as required.
- Support quantitative and/or qualitative analyses under guidance from the academic research manager.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to assist with project delivery.
- Provide administrative and organizational assistance to the academic principal investigator and other team members.

What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
- A completed undergraduate degree (or equivalent qualification).
- Experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methods and techniques.
- A solid understanding of research processes.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong prioritization and self-management skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Sensitivity when communicating with children and families, particularly those affected by developmental disorders.
Desirable:
- Professional experience or placement in a therapeutic setting.
- Previous experience in an academic research environment.
- Experience working with families of autistic or neurodiverse children.

About the SAFE Project
SAFE (Systemic Autism-related Family Enabling) is an innovative family therapy support program designed for families of autistic children. Funded by the National Institute of Health Research, SAFE is the largest global trial of Family Therapy for autism to date.
