About The Role

This position involves providing administrative support to the Secure Anonymised Information Linkage (SAIL) Databank, a globally leading repository of anonymised, individual-level data enabling large-scale health research. The SAIL Databank securely holds billions of records derived from various data sources, representing the population of Wales.

The role also supports the Information Governance Review Panel (IGRP), a body offering independent guidance and oversight of information governance practices within SAIL. The Panel evaluates all proposals to access SAIL data, ensuring compliance with public interest standards. Its members represent a broad range of organisations and sectors.

The successful applicant will manage the information governance review process for projects requesting SAIL data access, supply administrative support for the Panel’s activities, and oversee the SAIL user onboarding process, including account request processing.

This position requires strong organisational and time management skills, acute attention to detail, and the capacity to effectively prioritise tasks. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently while fostering productive collaboration with team members.

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

Swansea University is dedicated to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion across all facets of its operations. We are committed to fostering an environment that celebrates diversity and actively encourage applications from candidates of all protected characteristics, including but not limited to age, disability, gender identity, marital status, pregnancy, race, religion, sex, and sexual orientation.

Our workplace values individuals for their skills and abilities, regardless of their background, and applicants are welcome to submit applications in Welsh. Submissions in Welsh will be treated equally to those submitted in English.

Welsh Language Skills

This position requires Welsh language skills at Level 1 (“A little”). At this level, the role holder will be able to pronounce Welsh words correctly, answer the phone in Welsh (e.g., by saying “good morning/afternoon”), and use basic everyday vocabulary (such as “please” and “thank you”). Level 1 proficiency can be achieved through a one-hour training course.

Swansea University is proud to be a bilingual institution, as set out in its Welsh Language Strategy. The strategy encourages staff to embrace Welsh as an additional workplace skill, promoting cultural enrichment and social opportunities. Applications in Welsh will be treated equally to those in English. Welsh speakers can request an interview in Welsh, and applicants for roles where Welsh is essential must submit their applications and attend interviews in Welsh if shortlisted.
