The IT Services division at the University of Sheffield delivers a wide array of complex IT and technology-driven services to support education, research, administrative functions, and infrastructure for our staff and students.

The Information Security team, part of IT Services, is looking for a Security Assurance Officer to join the Security Operations team. This role is essential in ensuring the University remains secure and protected.

This exciting position involves working closely with the Security Assurance Manager to provide the University and its partners with information security assurance. You will empower staff and students to manage information safely while maximizing its utility. Key responsibilities include:

• Leading information security projects
• Creating and sharing policies
• Responding to requests for advice and guidance

Familiarity with established information security standards and frameworks, such as ISO/IEC 27001, PCI-DSS, and Cyber Essentials, will be a significant advantage. The role will also involve liaising with external stakeholders to address their information security requirements.

This position offers the chance to contribute to major strategic initiatives, such as:

• Developing and implementing the University’s Information Security Management System (ISMS)
• Providing research compliance support across a variety of activities
