Position Overview: Cyber Security Specialist

As a member of a small, dynamic team of cyber security professionals, you’ll play a pivotal role in safeguarding the University’s digital estate from evolving cyber threats. By identifying, mitigating, and investigating potential cyber risks, you will be a key contributor to the continued success of our core teaching, learning, and research services.
What We’re Looking for in You
To excel in this role, you’ll bring:
- Proven Expertise: Substantial technical experience in a similar cyber security role.
- Threat Intelligence: A solid grasp of the tactics, techniques, and procedures employed by malicious actors.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in one or more of the following:
– Network and systems security
– Windows/Unix/Linux systems administration
– Intrusion detection and prevention technologies
– Security information and event management (SIEM) tools and technologies
- Passion for Cybersecurity: A genuine interest in supporting cutting-edge teaching, learning, and research by providing essential technical cyber security services.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: The ability to thrive under pressure, analyze complex data from diverse sources, and deliver actionable solutions within tight deadlines.
