About the Role
The Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine is seeking a Data Officer (Grade 4) or Senior Data Officer (Grade 5), depending on the skills and experience of the candidate. This role is ideal for individuals with strong analytical and data management abilities. To support the Faculty’s needs and the post holder’s career development, training opportunities will be provided.

This role combines technical data expertise with strong communication, organisational, and collaborative attributes, playing a key part in both day-to-day Faculty operations and long-term planning. The successful candidate will work closely with the Data Manager, handling data and systems for analysis and reporting, as well as assisting in the improvement of data quality across several corporate systems and databases. Collaborating with colleagues within the Faculty and King’s College London more broadly, the post holder will deliver analyses, business operations tasks, and related projects.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a solutions-driven approach, utilizing available resources and data to support the Faculty’s priorities. They should exhibit excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to applying policies and processes.

This is a full-time (35 hours per week) position on an indefinite contract.


About You
We are seeking candidates with the following skills and experience:

Essential Criteria

  • A minimum Level 3 qualification (e.g., A Level or equivalent) in a relevant (numerical, technical, or analytical) subject, along with experience in a related role, OR substantial relevant knowledge and skills obtained through professional experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Strong organisational skills, with proven experience working collaboratively with colleagues beyond the immediate team, adhering to processes, and meeting deadlines to deliver projects on time.
  • High levels of numeracy, with intermediate skills in multiple business intelligence tools (e.g., Excel or similar). A solid understanding of data analysis, visualisation, and interpretation.

Grade 5 only: Advanced experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Excel and Power BI) and demonstrated experience in designing and deploying workflows using Power Automate or similar tools.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, accessible formats for non-specialist audiences, employing visualisation tools to enhance understanding.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to build effective relationships and networks with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and levels of responsibility, while advising and influencing stakeholders effectively.
  • A flexible, self-motivated, and enthusiastic approach to work, encompassing:

– The ability to collaborate as part of a team or work independently with minimal supervision.
– Skills in planning and prioritising effectively to meet deadlines.
– Consistently monitoring progress and outcomes.

  • A solutions-oriented mindset, alongside a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to analytically problem-solve.

Desirable Criteria

  • A degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in an analytical discipline, or a specialised qualification in data analysis.
  • Proficiency in creating, editing, and maintaining SharePoint sites, or experience with other web editing tools.
  • Familiarity with challenges and trends in the Higher Education, healthcare, or not-for-profit sectors.
  • Knowledge of GDPR regulations and best practices for compliance.
  • Experience in providing high-standard committee secretariat support.
