Role Purpose:
This position is integral to safeguarding the financial integrity of King’s College London’s fee income. The role involves ensuring accurate billing, reliable credit control, and strict adherence to regulatory standards. Operating across the student debt, commercial trade debt, and tuition fee billing teams, the postholder will manage the annual fee schedule setup, ensure timely completion of tuition billing, and lead efforts to recover debts related to student and college fees.
Additionally, the role requires compliance with anti-fraud and anti-money laundering (AML) regulations through meticulous due diligence checks, reconciliation of control accounts, and precise handling of overpayments and refunds. The postholder will also assist in administering external loan schemes. Using strong analytical skills, effective communication, and proactive stakeholder engagement, the individual will champion best practices, mitigate financial risks, and contribute to the overall efficiency of credit control and student finance functions.

To excel in this role, prospective candidates should meet the following qualifications and possess the required skills:
Essential Criteria:
- Educational Qualifications:
– A degree-level qualification or equivalent financial certification such as CICM, AAT, ACCA, or demonstrable experience in the finance sector.
- Anti-Fraud Compliance Knowledge:
– Thorough understanding of anti-fraud regulations, including Money Laundering and Proceeds of Crime Act requirements.
– Comprehensive knowledge of Data Protection and GDPR standards related to personal data handling.
- Advanced IT and Numeracy Skills:
– Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP formulas).
– High numeracy skills essential for effective data analysis and reporting.
- Accountancy Expertise:
– Solid familiarity with accounting procedures and functions.
– Knowledge of financial controls, bookkeeping, and reconciliation processes for accurate financial management.
- Professionalism and Accuracy:
– Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, paired with strong organizational and self-management skills.
- Independent Work and Communication:
– Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders.
– Solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Compliance and AML Checks Experience:
– Proven experience conducting AML checks and compliance assessments for inbound payments or new customers.
Desirable Criteria:
- Familiarity with the administrative and accounting functions in a Higher Education setting.
- Knowledge of SITS/SAM Student Records and Unit 4 ERP (previously Agresso/Business World).
