About the Role:
This position supports Space4Climate, a collaborative network of academic, public sector, and industry organisations dedicated to accelerating the use of Earth observation satellite data for climate services. Hosted by the National Centre for Earth Observation within the Meteorology Department at the University of Reading, Space4Climate works toward removing barriers to the exploitation of climate data for policy-making, climate services, and achieving net-zero-carbon goals.

We are seeking a proactive, adaptable individual to join our small, dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be confident engaging with stakeholders, including leading figures in science, industry, and policy, and will value opportunities for public speaking and knowledge sharing. While experience in public speaking is desirable, training and mentoring can be provided to help the right candidate develop these skills.

This role offers the potential to work at the forefront of a high-profile membership group, recognized as a leader in the space sector, and to contribute to impactful climate and environmental initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Research: Analyze data and trends to identify sector needs, opportunities, and competitors for space-based climate data use.
  • Administrative Support: Assist the Climate Services Development Manager and Communications and Engagement Manager with daily tasks and initiatives.
  • Event Coordination: Organize and support member-focused events, workshops (both in-person and online through Microsoft Teams), and related activities. Assist with capturing media (photos, video) and quotes for promotional use.
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure adherence to relevant policies, flagging potential compliance issues for escalation to the Climate Services Development Manager.
  • Content Development: Create engaging materials and visual content to communicate key messages effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Platform Management: Maintain and update the group’s climate services directory and website as needed.
  • Deputizing: Serve as a deputy for the Space4Climate Services Development Manager or Communications Lead when required.
