Position Summary:
The University of Reading is looking for an enthusiastic and detail-focused Student Fees Manager to oversee the efficient administration of tuition fee processes within Student Services. This crucial role supports the University’s operations, ensuring accurate and reliable fee handling for students, sponsors, and external stakeholders throughout the student lifecycle—from fee setup and billing to the resolution of complex cases.


Role Responsibilities

Primary Objectives:

  • Fee Administration: Manage student tuition fee data and processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with University policies.
  • Improvement Initiatives: Enhance systems, streamline processes, and deliver high-quality services to benefit students and stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams in Student Services, Finance, and academic departments, and maintain strong relationships with external parties such as Student Loans Company, sponsors, and embassies.

Key Tasks:

  • Supervise accurate tuition fee billing and resolve non-standard or complex fee-related issues.
  • Analyse data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for process enhancement.
  • Ensure the accurate submission and maintenance of student financial data and course information.
  • Provide expert guidance on tuition fee regulations, contributing to policy development.
  • Drive process improvements and support system upgrades to enhance service delivery.
  • Manage and develop a Student Fees and Funding Administrator, ensuring they deliver exceptional service.

Candidate Profile

We’re seeking someone with strong analytical skills, excellent organisational capabilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate confidence in handling complex datasets and systems, alongside effective communication with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience working with large, complex datasets and systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and IT tools, with the ability to analyse and interpret data.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing or supervising staff.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • A track record of improving processes or implementing system improvements.

Preferred Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with the UK Student Loans system and financial administration processes is advantageous.
