Position Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Student Support & Learner Engagement Manager to play a key role in enhancing student success within the Student Experience Directorate at Queen Mary University of London. Your focus will be on effectively utilizing the University’s Student Support System and Learner Engagement Analytics (LEA) to promote a positive and inclusive student experience.
As the functional lead for engagement systems and data management, you will ensure these tools are used consistently and effectively across faculties and departments. Collaborating with academic teams, IT specialists, and student-facing staff, you will analyze engagement data to identify trends, spot potential risks, and support timely, cohesive interventions for students.
An integral part of the role involves embedding processes and cultivating best practices by developing guidance materials, delivering training sessions, and empowering colleagues to use data-driven insights effectively. Over time, your focus will shift towards optimization, ongoing system improvements, and sustainable operational support. Additionally, you’ll contribute to clear and student-centric communications regarding engagement monitoring systems and the support available to students.
About You
You have a degree-level qualification or equivalent work experience and possess a strong background in student support services or higher education administration. Ideally, you have experience working with data and systems to inform day-to-day service delivery.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Hands-on experience with systems such as student records, engagement analytics, or CRM-style tools
- A solid understanding of student engagement, retention challenges, and support mechanisms
- Strong analytical skills with an ability to translate data into actionable insights and explain findings clearly to diverse audiences
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with both academic staff and professional services teams
You’ll also need excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills, along with a sound understanding of GDPR and the principles of ethical data use.
