Support Analyst/Developer Role at Cardiff University
Cardiff University is seeking to appoint a Support Analyst/Developer to join its team dedicated to maintaining and enhancing Microsoft Dynamics and M365 solutions. This role will primarily focus on supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Insights.

The Opportunity
Joining the University’s IT team, the successful candidate will collaborate with well-established infrastructure, systems, and operations teams. They will play a pivotal role in supporting key technical services that drive the University’s email and collaboration platforms, focusing on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Insights.
This role presents a fantastic opportunity to acquire highly transferable skills in managing and developing Microsoft technologies that are integral to University operations.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for individuals with:
- Experience: Proven track record of supporting large-scale IT systems in a sizeable organisation, either in technical support or development roles.
- Expertise in Microsoft Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft tools, with either advanced knowledge or a keen interest in specialising in technologies like Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SaaS solutions.
- Engagement with External Suppliers: Hands-on experience working with external vendors providing Microsoft Dynamics 365 and related SaaS solutions.
- Adaptability: Comfort working in a fast-paced academic environment while maintaining strong, effective team collaborations within IT and with external stakeholders.
- Commitment to Development: A desire to build expertise in your technical domain and support seamless service transitions to operational teams.
- Time Management: Proven ability to manage and prioritise workloads effectively, while responding rapidly to new requirements when needed.
Responsibilities
As part of a professional service delivery team, the role holder will:
- Service Excellence: Provide a highly professional, friendly, and customer-focused approach to support IT services for the University’s staff and students across Corporate, Administrative, Academic Research, and Teaching functions.
- Technical Support & Development: Support internal teams and external partners in developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Insights solutions. Duties include gathering requirements, reviewing partner-provided solutions, creating and maintaining in-house solutions, and addressing support requests.
- Systems Design & Development: Take the lead in designing, integrating, testing, and documenting complex systems based on agreed enterprise and solution architectures. This involves ensuring efficient resource usage, evaluating technology options, assessing risk, and balancing functional, service quality, and management needs.
- User/System Interfaces: Define specifications for user and system interfaces, including validation, access controls, security, and error correction measures. Participate in translating logical designs into physical implementations while assessing associated risks.
- Application Support: Maintain processes, ensuring all support requests are handled in accordance with agreed procedures. Use management tools to investigate issues, collect performance data, and generate reports.
- Team Leadership: Where required, provide line management and leadership for staff supporting technical and functional solutions within your area of expertise.

- Competitive Salary: £41,064 – £46,049 per annum (Grade 6), with appointments typically starting at the bottom of the scale unless there are exceptional circumstances.
